GREEN INDEPENDENCE CLEANUP 2022

Green Independence Cleanup is a brainchild of African Cleanup Initiative to commemorate the Independence of our great country, Nigeria. The cleanup was scheduled to be executed at Eleguishi Beach by 8am and as it was in our manner, ACI Team and Volunteers arrived from 7:30am and at 8am the cleanup kicked off.

Miss Adebola and a volunteer did the registration at 8am, followed by a welcome address from Miss Nora to the volunteers and every one present. The volunteers were shared into two groups named, WHITE and GREEN and were handed over the needed tools for the cleanup.

The cleanup exercise lasted for 45 minutes with coordination from Messier Shedrack, Emmanuel and Elvis and after which the volunteers re-assembled at the pickup point for photo sessions.

The recyclables and solid waste was weighed by Mr. Joshua. Mr. Daniel and Moses had wonderful photograph of the event and possibly videos. The volunteer MC thrilled the fellow volunteers with several games and dance competition where few people won tickets to watch a movie. Teachers and Staffs of De Joyland Schools came around to celebrate Teachers’ Day at the beach, but they had to quickly join other volunteers during the fun session.

The volunteers had light refreshment and drinks and it was dance, dance and fun all the way to celebrate the Independence Day. The event came to a close by 12noon.
Other states teams like Edo and Anambra also commemorated the independence with a cleanup activity and sensitization.
