INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY: WALK FOR RECYCLING AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AWARENESS

The event, walk for recycling and environmental sustainability awareness was carried out in Mushin community to celebrate the International Youth Day.

 
The event started at 8am with Mr. Elvis giving the opening speech, after which Mr. Shedrack give instructions on how the movement was to go. The volunteers where divided into two groups and directed to be on both parts of the road for effective walk and a wilder coverage. Miss Nora also gave procedure for the walk by apportioning duties to the volunteers, making sure that some did the awareness, while the others did the cleanup.


The walk took off from Empire bus stop through the Main road down to Regina Mundi Catholic church. The awareness and enlightenment was brought to the door steps of the residents and traders in the market with Emmanuel handling the mic as the MC for the event.

For the retrieval of pet bottles from the environment, all necessary tools were given out to the volunteers including trash bags and nose masks amongst other. At the end of the cleanup, refreshment was shared and vote of thanks was given by Mr Elvis. Pictures were taken, people networked, interviews were done _ Miss Nora and Mr. Elvis partook in the interview session, the recyclables were weighed by Mr Joshua and Mr Orji, to get the total of 70kg recovered from the walk, after which the, event was closed at 10am.
