Nigeria Cleanup Day
A national call to action
The African Cleanup Initiative (ACI) is pleased to invite Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Environmental Groups, Youth-led Organizations, Women-led Organizations, and Volunteer networks to express their interest in participating in Nigeria Cleanup Day 2026 (NCD2026).
Scheduled for Saturday, 3 October 2026, Nigeria Cleanup Day is a nationwide environmental movement that will mobilize volunteers across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to carry out coordinated community cleanup exercises, environmental awareness campaigns, climate action advocacy, and civic engagement activities in celebration of Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary.
NCD2026 aims to promote environmental responsibility, volunteerism, sustainable waste management, and community ownership of environmental protection, while advancing Nigeria's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What selected partners will do
Mobilize volunteers within their communities and networks
Organize and coordinate cleanup activities in designated locations
Conduct environmental awareness and public education campaigns
Promote responsible waste management and recycling
Support community engagement and stakeholder mobilization
Provide resources or in-kind support
Document and report on cleanup activities, impact, and success stories
Participate in nationwide advocacy for environmental sustainability
Collaborate with government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders
